Safe strawberry fields in California
Fumigant pesticides — like chloropicrin — are among the most toxic and difficult-to-control chemicals used in farming. Drifting from strawberry fields where it’s applied, cholorpicrin threatens the health of workers and communities. The chemical is linked to cancer and causes severe respiratory and eye irritation, as well as other health risks — especially for children.
Join us in calling on the California Department of Pesticide Regulation to immediately put strong safety measures in place to protect communities from chloropicrin, while phasing out the use of all fumigants by 2020 and transitioning to safe alternatives.
