Stop methyl iodideTell Congress to support strong new toxics law
Last week, leaders in Congress proposed a new law that will protect children from persistent chemicals, now and for generations to come. The newly proposed Toxic Chemical Safety Act directs regulators to take swift action on persistent chemicals that threaten current and future generations. Urge your Representative to support this bill. Take Action »

Urge Obama to act nowUrge Obama to act now on cancer-causing chemicals
In May, the President’s Cancer Panel strongly urged Mr. Obama to use the power of his office to “remove carcinogens and other toxins from our food, water and air.” Don’t let President Obama ignore this urgent wake up call from scientists. Sign our petition urging the White House to look carefully at the Panel’s recommendations, and develop a strong action plan for true cancer prevention. Take Action »

Tackle persistent chemicalsTime to tackle persistent chemicals
Persistent chemicals are toxic, build up in our bodies and are nearly impossible to control. The prestigious President’s Cancer Panel recently confirmed what PAN and our partners have long known: We are exposed to too many chemicals that cause cancer, and something must be done. Tell your Senators to support language in the Safe Chemicals Act that gives EPA strong power to protect us from persistent chemicals. Take Action »

No GE subsidyTell your senator: No GE crops in foreign aid
The Global Food Security Act mandates that U.S. taxpayer dollars support research on genetically engineered crops. Monsanto has been lobbying actively for the bill’s passage. Scientists who have examined the evidence around the globe agree: GE crops are not the answer to world hunger. Stop the taxpayer subsidy of Monsanto and other GE industry giants. Urge your senator to have the GE clause removed. Take Action »

Rethink methyl iodideUrge EPA to rethink methyl iodide
Scientists from across the country have completed a rigorous review of the evidence on methyl iodide. Their report: "adequate control of human exposure would be difficult, if not impossible." Methyl iodide is a water contaminant, nervous system poison, thyroid toxicant and is known to cause cancer. Tell U.S. EPA to follow the science and re-evaluate the carcinogen methyl iodide. Take Action »

Complete the chlorpyrifos ban
When it comes to pesticides, children are among the most vulnerable -- pound for pound, they drink 2.5 times more water, eat 3-4 times more food, and breathe twice as much air. They also face exposure in the womb and via breast milk. This is true for every child - no matter where they live. While banned for residential use, chlorpyrifos is an acute neurotoxin that remains widely used in U.S. agriculture, and rural kids are paying the price. Urge the EPA to complete the chlorpyrifos ban. Take Action »

Stop methyl iodideStop methyl iodide. Email DPR today
California is considering approval of the dangerous pesticide methyl iodide. Methyl iodide is a chemical so toxic that is handled under extreme care in scientific labs, and used to induce cancer cells in lab experiments. DPR's comment period on their decision is now open. Register your outrage, email DPR and say NO to methyl iodide. Take Action »

Roll back corporate control of the food system
The U.S. Justice Dept. wants to know how corporate control of the food system affects average people. Decades of bad farm policy, unchecked market consolidation and undue corporate influence over science have left agribusiness giants -- especially Monsanto -- with unprecedented power over our food system. Help the DOJ make the public case agains Monsanto. Take Action »

Tell Governor to nix new carcinogen
For the first time in many years, a new fumigant pesticide (methyl iodide) is coming under review in California. If California decides to reject this carcinogenic and extraordinarily hazardous new pesticide, EPA will reconsider the Bush-era decision to register it nationally. You can make a big impact by calling Governor Schwarzenegger today. This decision will determine whether or not a new, highly hazardous pesticide is widely used in American agriculture for years to come. Take Action »

No DDT for malaria Tell Obama DDT is no “Silver Bullet” for malaria
Children die of malaria every day, though the devastating disease is both preventable in curable. Sadly, efforts to invest in real solutions are often derailed by a small, fringe group of interests promoting DDT as a "silver bullet" for malaria control. To mark World Malaria Day on April 25th, tell President Obama that the U.S. must invest in safe and effective solutions, not increase reliance on DDT. Take Action »

Keep Big Ag out of the White House
Islam Siddiqui - a former pesticide lobbyist and vice president for CropLife America - is still on track to be confirmed as the U.S. Trade Office's Chief Ag Negotiator. Call your Senator and urge him/her to take a stand against agribusiness as usual. Take Action »

Stand with U.S. farmers against Syngenta
Atrazine is one of the most commonly detected pesticides in U.S. ground and surface water. Syngenta Corporation makes and markets atrazine to farmers in the U.S., but not in its home country, Switzerland. Stand with Midwest farmers, farmworkers & their families. Sign this petition calling for EPA administrator Lisa Jackson's new review of atrazine to be fair, transparent, and in the interests of farmers and American families — not Syngenta. Take Action »

Urge EPA to protect farmworker kids
Children in farming communities are on the front lines everyday because they live, play and learn near agricultural fields. Pesticides applied to these fields don't stay put -- they drift, vaporize, land in homes and on schoolyards - and current regulations don't account for this on-the-ground reality. If we can get EPA to act right now on three rule changes under consideration this week and next, thousands of kids will be protected. Take Action »

Tell Congress to Protect Next Generation Now
This month, lawmakers consider action on toxic chemicals that linger in the environment, build up in our bodies, and pass to the next generation. Tell Congress that infants deserve to start life free of dangerous pollutants. Take Action »

  • Urge EPA to ban endosulfan: EPA has been reviewing endosulfan since 2007 and has recently opened a 60-day docket for public comment. Endosulfan is a neurotoxic organochlorine pesticide -- the same chemical class as DDT and other insecticides that were banned long ago. Tell Lisa Jackson, the EPA’s new leader, that action is long overdue on this obsolete, highly toxic pesticide. Take Action »

  • Strip the GE mandate from the "Global Food Security Act": The Global Food Security Act (SB 384) is the biggest project in U.S. agricultural aid since the failed "Green Revolution", and would mandate U.S. food aid include research on genetically engineered crops. Details »

  • Bhopal cleanup and Dow accountability demands met: Responding to a 172-day, 500-mile march to New Delhi and two-month hunger strike, the Indian government has agreed to rehabilitate victims, hold Dow accountable for cleanup, and investigate Dow bribery charges. Details »

Rural communities, environmental health advocates and farmworkers from across the nation had urged EPA to use this opportunity to help move American agriculture to safe, secure and sustainable pest management technologies.
